Garcelle Beauvais attended the HISTORYTalks event in Washington, DC, earlier this week, where she was asked if she’d be returning to Bravo for the upcoming 13th season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Before sharing her thoughts on Kathy Hilton‘s controversial meltdown in Aspen, dishing on the end of The Realand revealing how she’s living the American dream as an immigrant, Garcelle answered a question about her future on RHOBH.
“You gotta ask Bravo,” she told Entertainment Tonight on September 27 when asked if she plans to return to RHOBH next season.
In recent weeks, Kathy’s meltdown has been at the center stage of RHOBH. But according to Garcelle, she hasn’t been too done by the incident.
“Oh my God, I love Kathy. I just feel like we all have meltdowns. Things happen,” she reasoned. “Ela She’s a lovely lady, and I’m glad the season is over.”
After attending an event at the White House, where Elton John (who has also found himself in the midst of drama on RHOBH due to the Elton John Foundation feud between Sutton Strake and Lisa Rinna) performed, Garcelle was met with an impressive lineup at the HISTORYTalks event, where she noted that “history is so important.”
“This is why I came to this country as an immigrant is really to sort of put my stamp on the world and also learn about so many other people, like, I didn’t know about Katherine Johnson until I saw Hidden Figures. History is important I want to know more, I want my kids to know more,” she shared. “So this was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.”
Walking the red carpet alongside Garcelle was Julia Robertswho the RHOBH star was pleased to meet.
“I just met Julia Roberts, she said, ‘Oh my God, I need to find you a boyfriend. I’m invested in this.’ And I said, ‘I can die now. I don’t even need the boyfriend,’” Garcelle recalled. “She said, ‘I need a moment,’ when she saw me and I was like, ‘Are you kidding? I need a moment!’”
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in her own interview, Julia said, “[Garcelle] needs a boyfriend. [I don’t have anyone in mind]but I’m gonna be thinking about it all day.”
According to Garcelle, she’s “open to so many things” following the cancellation of The Real.
“I want to produce. I want to spend time with my kids before they go off to college, even though they just started high school. I just want to continue to do what I love to do and that’s being an artist,” she shared. “I do [miss it]. I really felt like that was a niche that we had that we could talk about our community and even though we were women of color, we had different perspectives and different views so I hope I get to do it again one day soon because that’s really the platform I enjoy.”
although The Real is no more, Garcelle is still in touch with her co-hosts, including Adrienne Bailon-Houghtonwho recently welcomed her first child.
“I was so happy. I was texting her, she was texting me back and I’m like, ‘Why are you texting me back? You should be busy.’ I’m over the moon. Her dream dela came true,” Garcelle gushed, noting that she hopes to meet the baby soon.
Continuing on, Garcelle revealed what she hopes people will remember about her own history.
“I think for me, I came from a country that no one expected anything from me and I feel like I’ve lived the American dream,” she said. “I’ve been able to leave my stamp here and there and I think that’s what being an immigrant is about. We bring something also to the country. It’s not just that we want to take. We also bring, so it’s important for us to be inclusive of all people.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
