Perth weather: Last downpour before ‘hints of spring’ in metro area

Perth’s glorious winter weather is about to come to an end, making way for a strong cold front.

Showers are expected to creep in on Monday afternoon, with a major downpour to strike overnight and into Tuesday morning.

“It’s a beautiful warm day at the moment thanks to hot northerly winds, we hit 22.3C just after midday,” Bureau of Meteorology Duty Forecaster Jessica Lingard said.

“But we’ve got a cold front approaching later… what’s unique about this one is that it’s connected to a cloud band in the north fed by tropical moisture, meaning it will bring more rainfall than a normal cold front.”

On Monday 5-1mm of rain is expected, but on Tuesday Perth is preparing for a whopping 30-40mm.
