Peter’s Ice Cream is returning to an 80s classic with a nod to the iconic Smurfee – the Twin Pole Blue Raspberry Spider.

The blast from the past treat has been reimagined with a twist, featuring one side with vanilla ice cream and the other with fruity blue raspberry sorbet.

Launching in 1979, the original Peter’s Smurfee delighted Australians for years.

The company brought back the Twin Pole in 2021 after a decade of campaigning from Twin Pole fan Neil Hancock along with other fans desperate to see the treat back on shelves. Since the Twin Pole’s relaunch, megafans of the Smurfee called for its return, including Australia Remember When author, Bob Byrne.

Mr Byrne posted to his over 300k followers about the original Smurfee, which in turn received thousands of responses calling for its return.

“I have fond memories of enjoying a Smurfee with a friend on a hot summer’s day in the 80s, it was one of my favorite treats of all time, a memory I look forward to recreating with the new Twin Pole,” Mr Byrne said.

“Smurfee was such an iconic ice cream and has a special place in our history alongside Twin Pole. We are so excited to share a reimagined version that lovers of the original Smurfee, as well as the younger generation, can enjoy and share,” Peter’s marketing manager Eileen Whitta said.

Twin Pole Blue Raspberry Spider will be available in major supermarkets and convenience stores.
