Two found dead in Snowy Mountains helicopter crash wreckage

Two people have died in a helicopter crash in the south of New South Wales.

About 11.55pm yesterday, emergency services found the wreckage of a helicopter about 200m east of the Snowy Mountains Highway at Kiandra Flats in the Snowy Mountains.

The two people had died at the scene. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.

Officers from Riverina Police District have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has been notified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The crash comes just weeks after a helicopter crash at Guthega in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

The ATSB is also investigating that crash, after all five people on board survived.
